BearTrack Farm Pottery
Clays
BearTrack Farm Pottery is thrown from
porcelain, stoneware, raku and BearTrack clay. Each
clay has been developed and chosen for special qualities required
for the production of fine handcrafted pottery.
BearTrack Clay is a special stoneware clay formulated on
BearTrack Farm. Included in this wonderful clay's formula is the
addition of sand unique to the farm. This addition is responsible
for the clay's distinctive character, color, and texture.
Throughout the centuries potters have been drawn to the sensuality of
porcelain and the challenge it presents, only to discover that this
delicately refined material possesses a brutally unforgiving nature.
The value of a piece of studio porcelain will consequently reflect the
rare and specialized skill that has gone into its making. Even
though the use of procelain clay adds to production costs, one only needs to see the fired
results to know that there is no better choice when producing the finest
handthrown pottery, which will be cherished now
and into the future.
Raku clay is formulated to take the unique firing conditions of the
raku kiln. Our raku is all wood-fired in a special kiln built especially for this process.
